Dos and Donts for your beach vacay

Do’s and Don’ts for Your Beach Vacation

Whether you’re a life-long beachgoer (like the Anchor Works team!) or it’s your first time at the ocean,
it’s important to know a few dos and don’ts before you head out on your beach vacation! In today’s
blog, we’re sharing a few of our tips for how to have a happy and safe beach vacation. Continue
reading to learn more, and if you’re in need of beach umbrella anchors or beach accessories for your
trip, shop Anchor Works!

Do: Use Sunscreen & Sun Protection

We can’t stress this one enough- always wear sunscreen! Sunburns aren’t just painful, they can also
cause long-term damage to your skin. Make sure to apply (and re-apply!) sunscreen throughout the
day, especially if you’re going to be in the water. And don’t forget to protect your eyes with sunglasses
or a beach hat.

Do: Bring Beach Anchors & Beach Accessories

If you’re planning on spending any time at the beach, beach anchors and beach accessories are a
must. Beach umbrellas provide much-needed shade from the sun, and beach chairs allow you to relax
in comfort. And of course, beach anchor systems keep your belongings safe and secure, even when
you’re not able to watch them. Anchor Works offers a variety of beach umbrellas and
umbrella anchor systems to choose from- all of which are perfect for your beach vacation.

Do: Swim Near a Lifeguard

If you’re going to be swimming at the beach, it’s always best to swim near a lifeguard. Lifeguards are
trained to keep an eye on swimmers and to provide assistance if necessary.

Don’t: Leave Your Valuables Unattended

When you’re at the beach, it’s important to keep an eye on your belongings. Valuables should never be
left unattended, even for a short period of time. If you need to step away, make sure to take your
valuables with you or ask someone you trust to watch them for you.

Don’t: Touch or Feed the Wildlife

When you’re at the beach, you may see some wildlife- including birds, fish, and crabs. It’s important to
resist the temptation to touch or feed them. Wildlife can be dangerous, and it’s important to respect
their space.

Don’t: Go Into the Water Without Checking First

Before you go into the water, it’s important to check for hazards. Look for signs of rip currents or other
dangers. And if you’re not a strong swimmer, make sure to stay in shallow water where you can touch
the bottom.

Do: Be Mindful of Weather & Tides

When you’re planning your beach day, it’s important to be mindful of the weather and tide conditions.
If the weather is hot, make sure to stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade. And if the tide is high,
be cautious of waves and undertows.

Don’t: Bring Glass Containers

Glass containers are not allowed on most beaches, as they can be dangerous. If you’re bringing food
or drinks to the beach, make sure they’re in a non-glass container.

Do: Clean Up After Yourself

When you’re packing up to leave, make sure to clean up any trash or debris you may have left behind.
Consider bringing a trash bag and a recycling bag for your waste to keep things easy. We all love the
beach, so let’s help keep it clean!
