HOW TO USE

1. ASSEMBLE

  • The AnchorONE and convenience tray semipermanently attach to the beach umbrella's bottom shaft. You can leave it assembled for your next beach trip or break it down for compact storage.

2. INSTALL ANCHORONE

  • Use Anchor Works’ sand spade to dig deep with your Anchor Works’ Sand Spade (~1.5ft or just below pin and collar). Place the AnchorONE base into the hole.
  • Pack sand tightly around the base to make it a tight fit, so there is no room for shifting. Then backfill the sand into basin until completely covered. The only thing above the sand should be the the collar , safety pin + screw fastener!
  • Once completely covered, give it a wiggle and let the sand mold around the crevices. You'll feel it have less wiggle room.
  • Tamp the sand down on top of the base using your feet and bodyweight. This helps densely pack the weight.

3. LOCK IN ANCHOR WORKS' BEACH UMBRELLA

  • Make sure to align holes of the AnchorONE with bottom shaft of umbrella to receive shaft pin. Insert pin and tighten umbrella knob!

Classic Kit FAQ

Are Anchor Works’ products truly wind-resistant?

Yes. Our products are built for safety and proven in the wind. At the foundation of our system is the patented AnchorONE sand anchor—a sleek, no-nonsense solution designed to keep your umbrella locked in place and your beach day stress-free.

AnchorONE is third-party wind-tunnel tested and fully compliant with the latest CPSC safety standard ASTM F3681-24 which states:

"Under the new voluntary safety standard - ASTM F3681-24 - compliant beach umbrella/ anchor systems and beach umbrellas used with compliant anchors must provide a resisting force of at least 75 pounds, or must remain secure in wind speeds of up to 30 mph, when a compliant anchor is installed in the sand."

Our Marketstyle AnchorONE System, which combines the patented AnchorONE with our proprietary Marketstyle beach umbrella, held strong in wind tunnel tests up to 44MPH, exceeding the required 30MPH wind- resistance. The AnchorONE passes the mechanical pull test, defined by ASTM F3681-24, meeting CPSC's standard of 75 lbf resistance.

The Classic Beach Umbrella System is supported by the AnchorONE beach umbrella anchor, with 75 lbs of counterweight at the base of the umbrella to provide wind-resistance of up to 25MPH.

We always recommend closing your beach umbrella in 20MPH winds to protect your gear.

From the Founder: At Anchor Works, safety is central to our design philosophy. Our beach umbrella and anchoring systems have been engineered to align with the performance expectations outlined in the newly adopted CPSC safety standard based on ASTM F3681-24. This alignment is supported through third-party testing or internal engineering evaluations conducted for performance assessment. While no product can eliminate all risks, we are committed to promoting safer beach experiences through thoughtful design and rigorous attention to quality.

With 75lb base-weight resistance, won’t the umbrella invert in high winds?

It’s possible—and that’s by design. Our classic beach umbrella is built with double-spoke fiberglass ribs that resist inversion better than traditional designs. In extreme wind conditions, inversion may occur before the umbrella dislodges from the sand—which we actually consider a win.

AnchorONE’s holding power is so strong that it helps prevent dangerous lift-offs. In the rare case that wind overwhelms the canopy, the umbrella will flip before it becomes a projectile. That’s a safety-first feature, not a flaw.

That said, we always recommend closing your beach umbrella in sustained winds above 20mph—no matter what anchor system you're using. It's the best way to protect your gear, your space, and the people around you.

How easy is it to set up and remove?

It takes less than 5 minutes to set up, and once you’ve done it once, the next time is a breeze. All kits come with a QR code linking to an instructional video, and you can also find more detailed information and video guides here.

The included sand spade makes digging the hole quick and easy. Once the anchor is in place, just backfill, add the umbrella, and you’re good to go—quick, simple, and secure. When it’s time to pack up, removing the anchor is just as easy.

If it is so easy to remove by tilting it, will it not tilt easily in the wind?

Wind and human force are two different things!

To start, here is some info on how beach umbrellas go airborne in the first place:

The main culprit is when wind gusts exceed the umbrella’s ability to withstand UPLIFT. When that happens, the umbrella can be lifted up and out of the sand.

Remember, the pull test is designed to evaluate the holding strength of a beach umbrella anchor when subjected to uplift force—simulating the kind of force that occurs when wind tries to lift an umbrella out of the sand.

We NEVER suggest pulling the product straight up and out, as the weight may be too heavy for many. Instead, we recommend tilting the bottom pole by applying some strength in a downward motion. This exposes the anchor base enough to empty sand back into the hole.

There’s a misconception that because our removal process involves tilting, it must mean the system tilts easily when exposed to wind.

Here’s more on how that works:

  • Wind causes vibration of the beach umbrella pole, which can loosen a standard umbrella’s grip on the sand and in turn, place it in a tilted/ compromised position.
  • The AnchorONE’s design includes weathervanes (stabilizing fins) to prevent tilt caused by pole vibration.

We’re not saying tilting in wind is impossible—our design allows for intentional tilting to make removal easy. But it would take very high winds to cause that, or direct human force, which is controlled, deliberate, and uses leverage.

That’s what we mean by human force vs. wind:

  • Wind acts upward and vertically.
  • We act downward.
  • Wind creates lift from pressure differences above and below the canopy.
  • Vibration affects weak anchors—not AnchorONE.
  • Wind cannot leverage the pole like a human can.

Even if our system were to enter a compromised position, the AnchorONE continues to grip the sand (it contains it within basin). Even in super forceful winds that might cause the product to tilt, AnchorONE will still hold the sand. You still have to manually empty the sand out of the base after you tilt.

How big is the beach umbrella?

Our Classic beach umbrella feature a 7-foot canopy which is plenty of shade for two adults, a child or two, and your beach gear, depending on how you set up. We’ve dialed in this size for the perfect balance of coverage, wind performance, and portability.

What is the umbrella UPF rating?

UPF 50+. Blocks 98% of UV rays. Maximum sun protection and cool shade when you need a break—we’ve got you covered.

Is it heavy? How much does the full system weigh?

Nope, not heavy at all. The full Classic system weighs less than 9lbs. The AnchorONE, tray and spade combined weigh 3.2 lbs. The umbrella weighs 5.5lbs!

Can I use the AnchorONE with my existing umbrella?

Technically, yes—but we don’t recommend it. Anchor Works only sells the AnchorONE as part of a complete kit, which includes our proprietary beach umbrella specifically designed to pair with the anchor.

Our umbrella features a custom lower pole with a precision-cut hole that receives a stainless steel safety pin, allowing it to semi-permanently lock into the AnchorONE. This connection can only be released manually—not by wind, shifting sand, or movement—making it a key part of our wind-resistant system.

While using AnchorONE with another umbrella may improve its performance compared to no anchor at all, we can’t guarantee the same level of safety or compliance with the CPSC’s new beach umbrella standard. For full protection and peace of mind, the complete Anchor Works system is the safest and only configuration we stand behind.

Is AnchorONE bulky?

Not at all. It’s the only extra item you’re bringing, and it weighs just 3 lbs. It fits neatly into the carry bag and doesn’t take up space under your umbrella like sandbags and DIY setups. Compact, low-profile, and built to hold strong.

What makes Anchor Works different?/Why should I buy Anchor Works products over other brand names?

At Anchor Works, we’re raising the bar on beach safety with our patented AnchorONE anchor—designed, tested, and proven to perform when it matters most. When paired with our beach umbrella as part of the full AnchorONE kit, it becomes a wind-resistant system that delivers next-level safety, security, convenience, and ease of use.

Unlike cheap, mass-produced gear, outdated screw augers, or bulky sandbags, our design actually works. Screw augers are difficult to install and can be dangerous if they come loose. Sandbags are ineffective, often ugly, and take up valuable space under your shade—not to mention they become tripping hazards in crowded setups. And while other so-called “simple” solutions claim to be easy, they often require excessive twisting, screwing, adjusting, and second-guessing your setup. We knew there had to be a better way—so we built it.

Our products are wind-tunnel tested and built to last. We’re proud to be one of only two beach umbrella systems in the world that meet the new CPSC safety standard (ASTM F3681-24), holding strong in 44mph winds—well above the required 30mph.

Our process is just as intentional as our design. We mold our plastic components in Paterson, NJ, then ship them to our Connecticut warehouse, where every AnchorONE kit is manufactured, assembled, quality-checked, packaged, and shipped—all by hand. No shortcuts—just solid, wind-resistant gear made with care.

As a family-owned and operated company based in New York, everything we make reflects that hands-on approach and commitment to doing things the right way—from start to finish.
